INSTALLMENT I

Eleen Halvorsen's COLLECTION X is a collection of garments born from a year in quarantine, inspired by the need for dressing for one’s own pleasure. Looking at dressing as ritual, this is a collection in which fetish aesthetics meets sharp, minimal tailoring, focusing on straps and harness details as a means to empower - not tie down. Intrigued by the idea of creating a collection of garments with intricate closures that would give the wearer an experience every time they put them on, utilizing a multitude of straps to fetishize the otherwise automatic concept of putting on a pair of pants or a dress. I wanted the juxtaposition of feeling tied in, but at the same time exposed. Hence the name of the garments: The Exhibitionist Coat, Exhbitionist Pants etc. All made from materials sourced locally in the NYC garment district. All the straps are measured, cut, pressed and assembled individually in-house, a laborious process which again ties into the idea of fetishizing the garment all the way from making - to dressing by the wearer. Tailoring meets bondage, for the pure love of beautifully constructed garments and dark aesthetics.
